I am a painter based in Portland, OR, USA. Painting for me is about capturing light and emotion. As an artist, I seek to convey the mystery of transient, beautiful moments. I create pieces that invite the viewer into the mind of the subject or the world of the painting.

I work mostly in acrylics. My landscapes are often inspired by places I have been, particularly in the Pacific Northwest. In my portrait work, I am intrigued by subjects that have mystery and backstory. A big part of my practice is finding and painting antique snapshots, as a way to give new life to meaningful moments that time has obscured. Old and new family photos are a favorite subject of mine to paint for commissions, to connect people across time and space.

I teach high school art, in addition to high school English; I am an experienced teacher and hold my M.A. in Teaching. I love helping students reach their goals and find a unique artistic voice.
