I am a painter based in Portland, Oregon. 

 

Painting for me is about capturing light and emotion. As an artist, I seek to convey the mystery of transient, beautiful moments. I create pieces that invite the viewer into the mind of the subject or the world of the painting.

 

I work in acrylics. My landscapes are often inspired by the Pacific Northwest, or places I have been around the world. In my portrait work, I am intrigued by subjects that have mystery and backstory.

Part of my practice is finding and painting antique photographs, as a way to give new life to meaningful moments that time has obscured. Old and new family photos are a favorite subject of mine to paint for commissions, to connect people across time and space. Currently, I am working on a series of abstract paintings to illustrate Shakespeare's sonnets.
